New Year, New Bathroom: A Complete Remodel to Start 2023

Happy New Year Y’all! How are those resolutions you all made back in January going? Any progress or naw?  This year, like most years, I ditched resolutions and decided a project was the best way to start the new year fresh. What better way to start fresh than with a newly remodeled bathroom? A bathroom remodel can be an exciting and rewarding project, giving you a space that is not only beautiful but functional as well. In this post, we will take a look at a completed bathroom remodel and share some excitement for what is to come.

The Bathroom Before the Remodel

Before the remodel, the bathroom was giving 1998, very outdated and not the best use of the space. The shower was practically falling apart, the vanity was too large, and the window wasn’t an actual window we could open. The tiles were old and cracked, and the overall look of the bathroom was drab and uninviting. The bathroom was always something we knew we needed to tackle since we bought our home 4 years back, but bathroom remodels are intense.

The Remodel Process

We worked with a trusted contractor who has done work in our other bathrooms in the past.  We purchased all the materials such as tiles, vanity, light fixtures, hardware etc and then he provided all the labor.  The remodel included:

  • Expanding the shower: The shower was expanded to create a larger, more comfortable space.  We also went with a frameless glass and completely tiled shower to provide a more modern look.
  • Upgrading the vanity: The vanity was replaced with a new, smaller model, that honestly provides more storage space because it has drawers as well as cabinet space.
  • Improving the lighting: The lighting was updated with new fixtures, creating a brighter, more inviting space.
  • Replacing the tiles: The old, cracked tiles were replaced with new, modern hexagon tiles that give the bathroom a fresh, updated look.
  • Replacing the tub: The old, outdated built-in tub was replaced with a freestanding tub and faucet, creating a spa-like vibe in the space that is so relaxing.

The Results

The completed bathroom remodel was not without its hiccups, but ultimately a huge success. We feel such relief not worrying about the shower frame falling apart or tiles coming off the wall. The new shower is spacious and comfortable, and the entire bathroom is now our favorite place in the whole house! I was worried that a smaller vanity and larger shower would introduce storage issues for all of our stuff, but there’s actually more functional storage than there was before now that we have space for shelving units.  We are thrilled with the results and look forward to enjoying our new bathroom for years to come.

Excitement for the Rest of the Year

Starting the year off with a completed bathroom remodel is a great way to set the tone for the rest of the year. We are excited to continue making improvements to our home, both big and small. But now I can dive into my favorite part of any project…the decor part!  Stay tuned as I work to add decor pieces to the space and provide details in future posts.
