Anxious and ambitious. African and American. Building it all on purpose.

I’m Amie Bakare — author of Stop–Start–Continue, AI product leader, interior design creative, and the voice behind the Anxious African Mom brand. I help first-generation parents break cycles with frameworks, not just feelings.

The Book That Started as a Survival Guide

Stop–Start–Continue: A Gentle-ish Parenting Guide for First-Generation Americans Breaking Cycles & Building Connection isn’t a manual from someone who figured it all out first. It’s a framework — adapted from agile methodology — for the beautifully messy work of raising children when your own childhood didn’t come with instructions. What you stop. What you start. What you continue. Three questions that can change a generation.

Meet Amie

Sierra Leonean-American mother of three, published author, AI & Automation Product Manager in pharma, founder of SparkSynergy LLC, and a woman who believes the spaces we build — our homes, our families, our habits — should be designed with as much care as our careers. Maybe more.

I wished this space existed when I became a mother. So I built it — with honesty, not instructions.

This is a community for first-generation African moms in America — a place to talk openly about mental health, culture, parenting, and design without pretending we have it all figured out. What we have is each other, and a shared commitment to honesty, healing, and growth. If you’ve been looking for a space that holds all of who you are — welcome. You belong here.

for all of it

I never planned to write a parenting book. I planned to build a career, raise my kids, and figure it out quietly. But quietly wasn’t working.

I’m the daughter of Sierra Leonean immigrants, an AI product leader at one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, a mother of three, and a woman who lost both of her parents before turning 30. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, I realized the frameworks I used to build world-class products at work could help me do the thing I actually cared about most — break generational cycles and parent with more intention than autopilot. That realization became Stop–Start–Continue, and this brand became the space where first-gen parents come to do the same.

Let’s Build Something Together

I speak, write, and consult at the intersection of AI and automation, first-generation identity, intentional parenting, and design. Whether it’s a keynote, a panel, a podcast conversation, or a creative collaboration — I bring frameworks, lived experience, and the kind of honesty that moves rooms. If you’re looking for a voice that bridges technology and tenderness, let’s talk.
